Heimdal Bolig Replaced Excel After 30 Years – and Chose Deem for Better Workflow and Fewer Errors in Project Management
After many years of relying on Excel as their trusted companion, Heimdal Bolig recognized the need for a more modern and efficient solution. Deem became the answer – and the benefits were quick to follow.
We were actually quite satisfied with the Excel templates we had. They worked well, but we spent far too much time updating files and preparing the necessary data. It was time to work smarter, says Hege Moen, CFO at Heimdal Bolig.
The way projects are evaluated remains the same, but now everything is continuously updated in the system – with all information gathered in one place.
We make updates directly in Deem and work with live data throughout the entire process. This saves us a lot of work both before and after meetings, Moen explains.
Time Savings and Fewer Errors
By consolidating price lists and sales data in a single solution, the company has reduced the risk of errors and made everyday work much easier.
When systems communicate with each other, we avoid oversights and mistakes. It makes it much easier to work in a structured way, says Moen.
Excel provides flexibility, but it doesn’t scale well as complexity increases. With Deem, you gain control without having to let go of what already works, says Kjetil Wæhre, Director Digital at BDO.
Financial figures and general ledger data are now fetched automatically, and looking up transactions and price lists has become significantly simpler.
That’s a clear benefit, and we spend much less time preparing for review meetings. Even though we haven’t measured the savings in monetary terms, the impact is clearly felt in our day-to-day operations, Moen adds.
More Accessible Insights – and Better Conditions for Control
The transition has also improved ongoing financial management – not by changing how the work is done, but by making it faster and easier to get a complete overview.
I wouldn’t say that the decision-making basis is better than before, but the information is more accessible. And time is always a scarce resource, says Moen.
BDO has been involved throughout the entire process – from advisory services to technical implementation.
Our role is to ensure that the customer has a system that supports their decision-making and provides ownership of their own data. Heimdal Bolig has been very clear about their needs, which has made it possible to build a solution that truly works, says Erland Johnsrud, Manager Digital at BDO.
According to Wæhre, this is also about thinking long-term.
Many expect immediate results, but realizing the full benefits takes time. The most important thing is that the foundation is in place – and here it is. Now they can continue to build and increase the return on their efforts over time, he says.
Moen is looking forward to exactly that.
The first projects to go through their entire lifecycle in Deem have just begun. I believe we will see even more benefits in the time to come, she concludes.
